,,,,,,,,checking e-mails & blogging away,,,,,,,but at times, the connection is horrible, what to do ?.
However food is always pretty fresh, we eat what we catch from the sea only,,,,at times go hungry when the sea is too unfriendly. Everyone must learn, how to survive on the island,,,,we will teach you how,,,,,,,young coconuts are free but you must climb for it yourself o.k. !
Life can't be better,,,,,,do nothing, you go hungry-lah,,,,,its our lifestyle here, back to basic survival !,,,,,,,,,, please just make yourself at home,,,,,and do help keep the place clean & tidy o.k.
Magical corner, indeed! If everyone had to catch or grow and harvest their own food, there would be less wastage in this world, less gluttony, more respect for nature and its inhabitants, more thanks given to the creatures that had given up their lives so we could live.

the simple lifestyle is still the most healthy and bless.
ReplyDeletethe smallest fish is the most tender too, even its bones could be eaten, waste not my policy in life. in fact, i utilized reject chengal timbers for the longhouse,,,people though that i was crazy to even buy it from them!!
most of mt materials are washed ashore during he monsoon, that's why i hang around during such period with my chef Kalid and Jane the female doggy queen.
furthermore its so lovely n quiet with no other tourists around,,,the island is so peacefull now too. we have lots of rubbish washed ashore too to clean up.
can't wait to be back but Miri is raining dog n cats as such must manage the situation here too.
hope the situation will improve !!!

slowly slowly catch the monkey strategy works,,,manage time n effort accordingly n make your dreams come true.
I had a DREAM,,,,,n now in reality !,,,but one must enjoy doing it.

simple healthy islander lifestyle,,,but don't forget to bring beras mati satu kampit, ikan/sotong kita panching sendiri or spear at the beach front for pari/sting ray makan bakar n asam chilli,,,best.

Idyllic place...ade tanah spare tak? Saya nak buat umah kecik satu bilik, kayu recyle tak pa (dengan attached toilet..itu paling penting...hahahahaha)...pastu boleh buat umah vacation...belajar tangkap ikang dengang Kapitang.

ReplyDeleteSalam Capt. You were mentioned over at mamasita's and thought I'd drop by, without invitation. Going through your blog, I was reminded of the fascinating film "Cast Away" from way back. It was about a Fedex executive (would you believe it) who was stranded for 5 years on a deserted? island after his plane crashed in the ocean. He had retrieved a ball from amongst the wreckage, drew a face on it and called it Winston. It was that that kept him sane throughout. He also survived on young coconuts at the beginning!

fortunately i didn't crashed my chopper but landed safely on kapas on her after which managed to colonized her as the pirateking's hideaway ever since. Leading a yoo ho hoo lifestyle while it last.
Housekeeping after the monsoon is hell though,,,,paradise don't come easy at times yaaaaa.

ReplyDeleteIndeed, the monsoon kind of wash ashore tons of rubbish and also its high wind damage to building structure that we islanders must rectify constantly prior opening for the new season for business.
We not only clean up our individual area but also the whole beaches around the island without any help from the council cas. we just can't allow the rubbish to built up.
The public and visitor/tourist don't realise the efforts to make the island clean by the islanders but quick to comment about litters found on the beach which are left behind by others visiting the island.
Guess its all about proper up-bringing and good housekeeping that most malaysian still lacks unfortunately.
Still strong 3rd World mentality-lah. Buang sampah merata-rata tak rasa guilty pon.
Apa nak buat, kita cuci sahaja lah.
