Timber from the main land Yoooooo.

Heavy,,,,,,blood, sweat and tears-lah !!!!!.
Sinks like stones,,,,,,really hard & heavy.

The 1st load arrived on 20th May'09,,,,,,,lot more to come yaaaaa !!!

Timbers,,,,,,for new "Malay" type houses for construction on the island !.

Rumah Terengganu, Perak, Kedah, Negori Minangkabau and Malacca,,,,,,,jadi Capt's Malaysian Village nanti di-Pulau Kapas yaaaaaa !!!!!.

Species type ; "Kurin ",,,,,,Tropical local hard wood that sinks and bloody heavy almost like rock. Natural anti-termite timber type,,,,,sakit gigi nanti termite Ooooi,,,,,,hahaha .

Quantity & Size : 4"x 4" x 12 ft long ; 58 in numbers, 4" x 4" x 10 ft long ; 9 in numbers, 4"x 4" x 8 ft long ; 6 in numbers. Total volume ; 1 & 1/2 tons.

Costs ; To-date, just rm 3500 in total for timber plus rm700 for lorry/boat transfer/transportation and manpower cost,,,,,,,, delivered across to Kapas Island from Marang using local fishing boat and local boys for manpower and labour.
What next ?,,,,,,,,Now to look for local carpenters, friends from Pulau Duyong to help us together build up the houses. But there still lots of timbers of different sizes i.e. 2x3, 2x4, 2x5, flooring and wall planks plus other building materials to be purchased.

Must now, only look for "Chengal" timber for the rest and nothing else !.

Footings or foundations to be constructed or pre-cast from the main land too,,,,,size and height to be finalised before commiting-lah.

wowwwwww yaaaaaaa !!!!!!,,,,,,,,interesting and challenging time ahead to keep me and my pirate crew bloody busy all year round !.

YES,,,,,we are on track again !!!!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Yoo Ho Hoo guys.

Individual Freedom & Creativity

Just do what you good at plus enjoy while doing so !!!!!

The greatest rebellion in existence is Creativity !,,,,,,,,,,,, Am a true full blood REbeL ,,,,,,hahaha.

To be creative, you have to get rid of all conditioning, otherwise its nothing but photo copy.
Just be yourself as an individual, you cannot create as a part of mob psychology.
Its uncreative in mob psychology i.e. collective thinking,,,,,,,,its a dragging life, it knows no dance, no song, no joy,,,,its sooo mechanical. Boringggggggg-lah !

One has to search out his own way and to inquire in the jungles of life !.

One has to do it alone, be a dropout from the mob.

One has to be oneself yaaaaaa.

,,,,,,,,,,Yes indeed, the collective mind is the lowest mind in the World - even idiots are superior to the collective idiocy.

BUT, the collectivity has its own bribes,,,it respects people, honors people if they go on insisting that the way of the collective mind is the only right way.

In the past out of sheer necessity, creators of all kinds had to renounce respectivity,,,,having to lead and live a kind of bohemian life, the life of a vagabond, that was the only possibility for them to be creative !.
But for now and in the future, everyone should live individually and there will be no need for a bohemian life style again. ( fixed, orthodox, conventional, respectable life )

As for me, I have destroyed my 'previous collective/corperate mind' and made me free to be myself,,,,,just live the life as i want to live ,,,,,,,,Yooooooo !!!! .........In fact, I never was one !!!!!Hahaha ,,,,,,,,,,Yoo Ho Hoo guys !

I value "individual freedom", absolute freedom to each person to be him/herself, to exist in his/her own way.

But of course, one must not interfere with anybody,,,,that is part of freedom.

Nobody should interfere with anybody unless one breaks the law-lah !.

Unfortunately, in the past/present everybody has been poking their nose into everybody else's affairs - even into things that are absolutely private, which have nothing to do with the society.

Like, how other's dress, if one "bertudung or not" ! ? ..........Geeeeeee,,,,give me a break ! ,,,,,Mind your own business-lah. ,,,,,,,,,,,One man's meat another's poison !.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"Humanity needs a new soil,,,,,,the soil of freedom",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.

Bohemianism was a reaction, a necessary reaction, but as for me, there will be no bohemianism because there will be no so-called collective mind trying to dominate people. Then everbody will be at ease with him/herself. Of course, you have to live it on your own terms. "

Then only is there creativity.

Creativity is the fragrance of individual freedom.

Let the new Malaysia, our beautiful land for all, the freedom to be creative.

To all my brotherly/sisterly Malaysian,,,,,,,,,, I will tell you my secret,,,,,,,guys, just be creative inorder to survive this uncertain period ,,,,,,,,,yaaaaaaa.

Hidden agenda at Capt's Longhouse

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, my 2nd mate Asaari and meself.

Capt Says: March 29, 2009 at 11:36 pm

Matt, Candana 287

No worries take your time.

Am just trying to help those that want to help themselves and change for the better saja bila mereka datang berkerja on the island or at my joint i.e. Capt’s Longhouse which is a backpacker’s hideaway to chill off after/during their journey of discovery in life.

Yang sedeh-nya budak budak local kita tak sama dgn budak budak dari luar negeri yang sanggup belajar/experience/exposure to challenges plus hardship during their discovery years in life !.
Our local boys,,,Mereka hanya penting to find the easy way out,,,enjoy for the day ! - nothing plan for the future,,,, as such senang get involved with drugs etc from what I see depan mata saya lah.
Where I come from,,,,i.e. saya beri mereka responsibilities in running a business at my place on the island.Ajar mereka accounts/sales/marketing/public relation dan most important responsibility plus belief in self confident !.
So far ada yang bite my hands but banyak success stories juga in the past 20 odd years since I started this “Hard Knock University of Life” for the local boys/girls.

My method is based on self trust and individual self wanting to change !.
The last guy that I had to remove from my place was taking/stealing things from our customers/meself and he admitted that he can’t help it since he needed his shots desperately at times !.
Am no expert but alternative ‘medicine’ such as air ketom was not enough for him,,,,,,,,,he really and badly needs his heroin shots from what I gathered directly from him !.
He now found himself another place to stay on the island i.e. ,,,,,,,,,,at the camp site but I think he is now the island pusher in order to sustain his drug habit. He is again a wanted man right now but hidding from the authority. But he is alway welcome at the longhouse for food and drinks at any time still yaaaa !.
Most unfortunate since he was just released from the Pusat about 3 months ago after so called treatment from the Govn. etc. ,,,,,,,,,,,,Something is still not right here-lah,,,,,,what is not happening ?.

So bila you have time,,,,please tell me what more is missing from my simple method ?.
Am very friendly but strict with the boys/girls if they work/stay on the island.
When i ban anyone from the island, they are gone for ever !

Reply from Candana 287,,,,,,,,, and thanks from the Capt too ,,,,,,yaaa !

Capt, concerning Facebook: Would you believe that I was pasting your name in the Facebook “Search” when I saw what came in the email - you had Added me first! What a coincidence - and I would have been more than honoured to have added you first had I known you were on Facebook. These projects that you’ve done/are doing for the drug users - I’ve been on both sides of the track, gone on both directions and I know what this entails… you are someone uncommon, Capt.

Actually that is obvious enough: the fact that you are actually living on the island in the here and now - instead of people like me who “dream of” - is more than enough proof. And these hopes and intentions - and the implemention especially - for trying to do something about the abuse of drugs… I bow to you. And that’s not near enough to show my appreciation, admiration and respect for your efforts.
I’ve had my feet in both worlds, and right now I’m in no-man’s land probably - of not being an active addict, but not in the `normal’ world either. The second comes about due to the prejudice and at times even malice by some of the `respectable’ in the `normal’ world that most of you live in. That’s one of the reasons why and how I come to distrust - this malevolence and spite of certain people are real, unfortunately; as I have stated in the previous post. And if you’d look closely, you’ll see how this one affects the efforts of people like you. I might go deeper into this as I go along.
If you were only just about to start with this, I’d actually do my level best to dissuade you! “But don’t I want people to help these addicts?!” Yes, I do - but I also don’t want nice and decent people like you to get burnt, be bitterly disappointed and then not just turn your backs fully but also “with a vengeance”. T
This has happened before, especially with people whose `niat’ (intentions) weren’t purely “to help prevent, treat and rehabilitate addicts”. Many are individuals (1)who were in it “for the glory… chest-thumping value… image conscious types”; (2) plus some who were plain naive, too optimistic and too much into the “positive thinking” psychology. So, with such weak reasons in Number 1, they are out at the first sign of trouble.

After reading what Capt had written - the good and bad experiences - there’s nothing for me to add actually… you are in the circle of things, you know how it is. And the fact that you have not given up - this is to be rated as “Good” and “Successful”. Or is some armchair critic looking for “100% - or at least 80% being clean after three years to only rate that?… that these 80% pray five times daily, fast the whole 30 days of Ramadhan, walks around with a tasbih and wears a made-in-china kupiah?
What you are doing is the nitty-gritty stuff - of “everyday living”. My standard of measurement is simple: “If they are better NOW than previously, that’s good”.
If I may just add, Capt - Stick with the carrot-and-stick. Be firm but fair and you’ll do allright with addicts - or anyone. But what I appreciate here of Capt is, “People get A chance”.

BTW some people somehow think that addicts are impressed with degrees or foreign universities - even of Psychology. Or even something directly related with drug treatment/rehabilitation. Or “lulusan usuludin Al- Azhar, MES-II-RRR” HAHA! Sorry for the scornful laughter, but I’ve seen these types… bombarding a ceramah for recovering addicts with assorted quranic verses and hadiths, of fire and brimstone and expecting the audience to be awed - including of them too, of course.
Sorry to give this feedback, ustaz-ustaz yang membaca, But this is what usually happens: (Scene at ceramah)… Favourite question among attendees is “Bila dia nak habis cakap?” (When is he going to stop talking?).
Instead of looking at why he has failed to reach and touch the attendees, the ustaz would just dismiss this as “Syaitan is preventing them from listening”. Yeah, and never *his* shortcomings… especially of him feeling he’s better than those listening (never mind the “Saya pun dok peringati diri saya”)… But his heart is really saying: “These are just drug addicts, while I’ve been to Mekah twice, bulan Ramadhan pulak tu, and can oft-quote a quranic verse every ten sentences…”
The fact is; people can sense this - what you think of the listeners and yourself is transmitted; and this is something *we* (I’m siding with the underdogs) can detect after just a few minutes. If you aren’t sincere, have prejudices against addicts; just save everyone from wasting time - DON’T give a talk, please. It will only result in more bad feelings.
BTW `outsiders’ would often tend to under-estimate not only the intelligence of addicts but also some of the addicts’ education and knowledge of things. The common impression is that these are “Form Three education, maybe can read only the Fatihah, work as contract labourers, jaga kereta…”
It’s not that these addicts are by nature not receptive and disrespectful - it’s what you are that will decide that. And you don’t built rapport in one hour… But people make this elementary mistake time and time again when dealing with addicts!
If there are the “best people” to reach the addict, it’s “someone who has also been there - and got back alive”. The addicts - they’ll listen to this kind… someone who speaks their language and knows what it’s like when you are down and out, the withdrawal pangs from heroin starting to manifest, with no drugs and only RM1 in your pocket, with no friend in the world… while everyone around you are so seemingly happy. These people are around - those in Narcotics Anonymous especially: These are people worth their weight in gold when it comes to influencing addicts for the better.
I’ll continue later - about the usage of substitutes: of “drinking beer is better than smoking heroin” - something along this line. But right now I have to continue with work. Later, Capt.

What's Life and Living all about ?.

Do you see double ?,,,,guess you must be drunk yaaaa !!!!! No worries, take it easy guys.

My sailing mates and preparing ourselves for the Monsoon Cup,,,,,watch out for the Pirate Team from Kapas in the near future !. Yoo Ho Hoo.

Yes, answered to another lady blogger friend about my feel on life and living. ,,,,,Guess what ?,,,,,I thought, I would rather also share it here too-lah !.

Well, I think we need to address the question about life with our own actions, the things we do that make life worth living.,,,,,Verbs, not Nouns ! ,,,these kind of behaviors would be my answer or that come to my mind-lah.....!!!!. Indeed, life is a BIG party too.

Creating: Writing, drawing, painting and playing music. For me, it will be inventing something, building a business, coming up with a clever marketing campaign, forming a non-profit etc etc !. Just be real creative and doing it yaaaa and not just thinking about it-lah!.

Relating: It’s not “family” that makes life worth living, I think, but the relationships we create with members of our family, and the way we maintain and build those relationships. Same goes for friends, lovers, business partners, and everyone else.

Helping: Being able to lend a hand to people in need – however drastic or trivial that need may be – strikes me as an important part of life.

Realizing: Making, working towards, and achieving goals, no matter what or how little/small/tiny those goals are.

Playing: Maybe this is a kind of “relating”, but then, play can be a solo affair as well. Letting go of restraints, imagining new possibilities, testing yourself against others or against yourself, finding humor and just the simple joy.

Growing: Learning new things, improving my knowledge and ability in the things I’ve already learned.

Those seem like more satisfying answers to me – they strike deeper into what it is I want for myself, what makes it worthwhile to get up in the morning. To taste/feel the fresh air, smell the flowers, watch the sun rise and sun set every day ?,,,,, plus be ever thankful to the BIG boss too.

Plus,,,, a "BIG",,,,,Yoo Ho Hoo from the KapasPirateKing,,,,,,Relax n Have Fun.....Be Cool guys.

Island Living or Survival ?

Have you ever dreamed of living on an island paradise ?

,,,,,Kapas island is ideal for a private retreat or getaway, this island is for those who appreciate privacy and tranquility within nature.

,,,,,Just read a book under a tree and let your mind wonders with the breeze plus the sound of waves beating its way across the beach.

,,,,,So peaceful,,,,,,,,,,,no worries be happy

,,,,, just relax and rest both body and soul.

Well, that's for the house guests-lah,,,,,,,,,,,,not for this poor old fellow !. Waking very early in the morning to ensure the water is boiling, cleaning up the late night left overs, washing whatever needs washing,,,,the typical poor wife's role-lah, apa nak buat jadi bujang senang di-pulau.

But am happy and healthy,,,,that's what counts !. Me and my so called, Pirate Kingdom and crew in the South China Sea. Living my childhood dreams,,,,,,,,Yoo Ho Hoo around the high seas and creating lots of fun activities on the island.

Lots of people may think that am a bit crazy !,,,,,,,,,,,,which in a way is true cas. just imagine surviving with my island dog "Jane" plus my good Friday, "Chef Kalid" and latest addition Traditional Malay Massager/Tukang Urut, MaiEeee or "John" for short who had just graduated again from a "Pusat" somewhere,,,,,,and also now not to forget, part timer "Awang Toddy" the air nira coconut maker, who is also acting as our marketing agent/people pusher from the main land. In fact, he is very effective, today itself 2 x rooms were booked for his people from his kampong. He keeps sending lots of his folks and friends to taste the island life style nowadays. Awang has been selected to undergo for technician training by Petronas in end April 2009 and that will hopefully path his future career in the E&P business.

We lost "Boy" again, he came with his girl friend "Adik", about 2 x weeks back and stayed/honeymooned for 3 nights after which decided to find his career somewhere else, understood from the German girl that he introduced to Kapas ,,,,,,"Boy" is now in Perhentian Island,,,,,, I wish him well. At 29 years of age still wondering around to find his likings in the World,,,,,son of an Army ex-General, what a pity. He worked for 3 x months last year but could not get along with "Ciko" the moneyman that ran off with the house money at the end of the 2008 season !.
This "Ciko" character is another interesting fellow/joker,,,,,,,Geeeee told him the Capt's Longhouse motto is "Loyal to None" and indeed he really went right into it. Will write more about him after me getting my hands on him one of these days in the very near future !. He is always somewhere close near the post office in Kuala Terengganu and my good taxi sapu driver friend, "Mr. Singh" will advise me of "Ciko" where about in town if am interested to settle my house money business with him !.

Right now, the 19+ year old Swedish guy "Yohan" or fire stick player that burnt his left arm in Cambodia will check out after 3 x dorm stay nights at Capt's longhouse,,,,,,,really don't know how to charge him since he seems broke and hungry all the time !,,,,,,been feeding him all day long.
He can eat half a chicken all by himself and 3 plates of rice at each sitting. Lucky he is leaving today, or else he might eat up "Jane" too if we are not careful. After listening to his 'dog eating' experience in Vietnam just a few weeks ago !. Apparently, dog meat is sweet and kind of soft according to him. ,,,,,,,Eeeyaaak ! ( Yaaaa,,,,he also reminded me about the BBQ smell when his arm was on fire !,,,,,,he must be pretty hungry then too)

Well, got to prepare the dorm/rooms now,,,,,,,,,,,,before our new house guests arrive for their fun under the Sun. ,,,,,,,Now where did I put the penyapu burok tadi ?.

Get into the right frame of mind before hitting the water

Preparing this 58 year old body and mind for my next dive!
Guess other than getting my diving equipment be properly serviced and back to speed, my knowledge and diving skills needs refreshing too.
Once under water – an alien environment, equally important to appreciate and manage is my safety attitude, the state of mind or mental conditioning plus preparedness in facing emergency underwater.
Handling stress underwater might not be obvious until one is committed, perhaps many divers are not aware or don’t recognize that underwater stress is present in a variety of forms on every single dive we make.

Some of the common underwater stress, which I normally en-counter are as follows;
,,,,,Time pressure stress from having limited air supply since, I am such a heavy breather.
,,,,,Task loading stress that arise from having to manage other activities such as underwater camera /picture taking while controlling buoyancy plus trying to keep in track with the rest of the diving team or dive buddy.
,,,,,Disorientation or lost of navigation in poor visibility condition causing compound stress, when a number of stressful factors coincide.

It is very crucial as a diver to understand what produces stress, how to recognize it and how to handle it when it happens. If stress is not managed properly, it could very quickly lead to panic, a life threatening event and indeed the major cause of diving fatalities world-wide.
,,,,,Right now I am exercising daily again by performing physical work outs to get my body back to be physically fit for diving as well as mentally fit mindset.
,,,,,Focusing on self rescue skills to a point that I can perform automatically, so that in an emergency, I don’t have to think about what to do, it shall be instinctively.
,,,,,Building my water confidence level by swimming, free-diving and snorkeling plus spending more time at the beach !.
,,,,,Learning to breathe properly, go for the 15 second breathing cycle and four breaths a minute.

The secret to manage underwater emergency is to stay calm and assess the situation and apply the emergency skills.

Keep a clear head and positive state of mind, be confident of dealing any situation before the next coming dive.,,,,,,o.k. Capt please take it easy ,,,,,you are an oldman nowadays-lah !.

Geeee,,,,guess I have to talk to myself too, in-order to play it safe yaaaa.
